Preamble
The Governing Council of Coal City University, Enugu, is pleased to announce the vacancy for the position of Vice-Chancellor of the University. In line with the Universities (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree 1993 (Decree No. 11, as amended), applications are hereby invited from suitably qualified and highly distinguished Professors with extensive experience in university teaching, research, and administration.

The Job
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the Academic Head of Coal City University. As the ex-officio Chairman of the Senate and a member of the Governing Council, the Vice-Chancellor is responsible to the Council for policy implementation in key areas such as finance, property/facilities management, and effective administration of the institution. In addition, the Vice-Chancellor oversees the administration of academic programs and ensures discipline among staff and students in line with the university’s established regulations. Furthermore, the Vice-Chancellor enhances the university’s visibility and reputation locally and internationally, and leads initiatives for growth, sustainability, and improvement in all areas of university functions.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate for the position of Vice-Chancellor must be a distinguished academic with proven managerial expertise. The candidate must meet the following qualifications:
✱ Must be a full-fledged Professor with requisite years of experience in a reputable university as of the date of this advertisement.
✱ Must not be older than 65 years at the time of taking up the appointment.
✱ Proven track record in university administration, strategic planning, and financial management.
✱ Strong communication, interpersonal, and advocacy skills.
✱ A highly innovative, dynamic, and self-motivated academic with strong leadership and administrative skills.
✱ Proficiency in information and communication technology (ICT).
✱ National and international recognition for academic excellence, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
✱ Strong international visibility, evidenced by academic publications, research grants, and collaborative linkages.
✱ A courageous, yet humane leader capable of making principled and fact-based decisions.
✱ Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students, particularly at the PhD level.
✱ Commitment to upholding and advancing academic standards and integrity.
✱ Physically and mentally fit for the demanding responsibilities of the role.
✱ A clear vision and mission for the future of the university (to be submitted in no more than 500 words).
Note: Membership on a university Governing Council and possession of a PhD would be
advantageous.

Candidates should also submit 30 copies of their vision and mission for the university. For candidates identified and nominated by the Search Team, the CV should be accompanied by a signed and dated letter of consent from the nominee.
Candidates must also provide the names and addresses of three referees. Each referee should send a confidential report directly to the Registrar.

Salary and Conditions of Service
The salary and conditions of service for the position of Vice-Chancellor are in accordance with the established norms for similar positions in Federal Universities in Nigeria and will be determined by the University Council as applicable.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Call prospective students using established methods.
- Counsel and advice prospects about CCU academic programmes.
- Respond to inquiries regarding scholarships, admission process, and related matters
- Develop and maintain relationships with enrolled students.
- Live Chat and provide basic Support
- Meet goals for volume of enrolments and various performance metrics within the University guidelines
- Attend recruitment events, on and off-campus, as an Admissions representative and build recruitment relationships with prospective
- Effectively execute weekly telemarketing campaigns and recruitment goals.
- Respond to inquiries regarding scholarships, admission process, and related matters.
- Update and maintain a digital interaction with prospective students.
- Strictly honour the privacy and security of student records and other sensitive information according to regulations, policies and procedures.
- Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in English Language or Mass Communication (Preferred)
