Professor Malachy Ikechukwu Okwueze was born on the 30th day of May 1962. He had his Post-Primary School Education at Nsukka High School (Former Anglican Grammar School) Nsukka. He then proceeded to the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he not only earned a First Class Honours Bachelors Degree in Religion but was the Best Graduating Student of the University in 1987. Being the Best Graduating Student of the 1986/1987 graduating class he had the rare honour of giving the Valedictory Speech on behalf of all the graduating students during the December 1987 Convocation Ceremonies.
Malachy further earned Master of Arts and Ph. D Degrees in Religion from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka obtained in 1989 and 1995 respectively. He also holds an LL.B Degree in Law from the University of Nigeria (Enugu Campus) and was the Best Graduating Student in Commercial Law in 1992. Malachy who is equally a Lawyer was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1996 after successfully completing the necessary training at the Nigerian Law School, Lagos from where he graduated as the Second Best overall Graduating Student of the Nigerian Law School, Lagos in 1996.
He has attended several local and international conferences and published by reputable publishers, over widely on a variety of issues especially as they affect Society. Malachy is a Professor of Religion and Ethics at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he teaches Biblical Hebrew, Old Testament and Religion & Society.
Before his appointment as Vice-Chancellor, Coal City University, Enugu, Malachy served the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in several capacities including:

FAMILY LIFE
Professor Malachy is married to Dr Mrs Felicia Osondu Okwueze, a highly resourceful and lovely woman who is a lecturer in the Department of Public Administration and Local Government, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Malachy and Osondu have been happily married and living together with both the joy and challenge of bringing-up/training their six lovely and exciting children since December 14, 1996.
